Revolutionary Student Union Statement

As we speak, Iranian nuclear facilities are burning from U.S air strikes, ordered by president Donald Trump and his administration. 

Last week, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran, targeting nuclear facilities, air defense systems, and military infrastructure in a formal act of war. Iran responded with force and in self defense, striking military and government sites in Tel Aviv and Haifa. Now, Trump threatens to send the U.S. military into a full-scale war on Iran’s soil.

We reiterate this war is in no way just. The American imperialists must continue to reinforce their global dominance, and the current threats we see upon Iran confirm this. We maintain the people of a certain country have the right to determine their own destiny. In cases like now, where the U.S threatens the self-determination of the oppressed Iranian people, we express our firm support for the right of oppressed people to rebel. 

As we speak, the executive branch is further concentrating power around prospective war with Iran. This represents the growing trend of fascistization we are witnessing in the United States. Trump, reserving his power as commander-in-chief of the U.S Armed forces, has increased the intensity of warmongering rhetoric. In a cynical display marking the uniqueness of our current era, official statements holding bloody implications are being churned out on social media. Trump claimed “complete and total control over Iranian skies” and has called the leader of Iran an “easy target”. 

It is necessary to reaffirm our basic analysis that U.S imperialism is the number one enemy of all people of the world. Today there are two camps – imperialism versus the workers and oppressed people of the world; and two roads – destruction and imperialist war versus rebellion against oppression and for just and lasting peace. We firmly stand on the side of the latter. As proletarian internationalists, it is our first task and highest form of service to the working class both here and abroad to struggle for a socialist revolution, and to sweep U.S imperialism into the dustbin of history once and for all. It is our duty to stand with all oppressed people who happen to find themselves in the crosshairs of U.S imperialism. 

In our trench of combat as revolutionary students, we refuse to see the university as neutral ground. It is a core organ of the war machine, producing the technologies, ideologies, and personnel of imperialism. We will fight to shut down military recruiters, defense partnerships, and Zionist / Militarist and Imperialist propaganda on campus. And we will take our struggle beyond the campus, joining the fight against imperialism in the workplaces, in our neighborhoods, and at every point of confrontation. We will mobilize students against imperialist war everywhere and anywhere.

At the same time, we will defend our classmates from repression, surveillance, and political attacks which follow from these US-Israeli war games, especially those most targeted: undocumented, and working-class students. We face the same enemy in the same fight alongside the people of Iran.

We understand this war as part of a broader capitalist offensive and following from that we understand that revolutionary students cannot stand aside. We must politicize, mobilize, and organize on every campus, in every city, build a class-conscious, militant, and revolutionary student movement at the service of the struggle of the working class through waging militant struggle, combatting and resisting U.S imperialism without fear.
