The Revolutionary Student Union stands with the Palestinian resistance and their right to resist the genocidal, colonizing Israeli invaders. Zionism, the ideology of those who want to expel the Palestinians from their land to make way for Jewish settlers is the cause of this war, not the Palestinians fighting back. October 7th was the day the resistance broke down the prison walls in Gaza, a day that all progressives should uphold, not denounce.

We also must realize that the lies the imperialist news throw at the Palestinian resistance are all untrue, every accusation they have is a hidden admission. For example, Israel claims that the resistance conducted mass killings of civilians, when in actuality the Israelis slaughtered their own people as part of ‘the ‘Hannibal directive‘. Which is a secret directive that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) used to kill their own people to prevent them from being taken as prisoners. As the Zionists value the life of 1 Israeli soldier over the lives of thousands of Palestinians. The resistance took prisoners to repeat the success of the capture of soldier Gilad Shalit, who was exchanged with Israel for 1,027 Palestinian prisoners.

We have seen over the century of Palestinian resistance that peacefully asking your oppressor to throw crumbs at you does not work, Palestinians have exhausted every other option besides armed resistance.

We understand that the violence of the oppressed against the oppressor is never the same. Israel has slaughtered up to over a hundred thousand Palestinian civilians. They have trapped the 2.3 million inhabitants of Gaza, half of whom are children in the world’s biggest concentration camp, depriving them of support from the outside world and the right to return to their lands. Armed resistance is what drives history, whether it be the Haitian revolution, where Haitians took up arms and drove out the French, Spanish and British slavers. Or even in our own history, where hundreds of thousands laid down their lives in the Civil War to end slavery.

Resistance is nothing to be ashamed of, and if we truly want to stand with Palestine we must stand with Palestine not only when they have atrocities being committed against them, but we must also stand with them when they fight back!

On the West Coast, RSU chapters in the Seattle area held walkouts in protest of the genocide and in support of the resistance. In Davis, California a large protest was held. At the University of Michigan a large demonstration was held. In NYC mass protests were supported by RSU.
