The Issaquah Students’ League (ISL), a chapter of the Revolutionary Student Union (RSU) hosted their first protest action in Issaquah. The protest was held on the state wide day of action against Nuclear Weapons, an initiative begun by the Washington State Coalition Against Nuclear Weapons (WAANW) The event in Issaquah was held to oppose Kim Schrier’s (House Representative for the district that Issaquah is in) continued support for imperialist policies and increased militarization in the form of the ever-bloating US military budget.

The ISL marched to her office and received support from members of the community along the way there.

Rep. Schrier has consistently voted against reigning in military spending and for budget increases.

Schrier consistently votes for record-high military budgets to be passed, in 2022 alone congress gave 816.7 billion to the Defense Department

The USA has the highest military budget in the world, and we spend more on our military than the closest 10 countries combined.

The military budget continues to be packed to the brim while everyday Americans suffer from high inflation, a soaring poverty rate for both children & adults, a drug epidemic, a homelessness crisis, and a housing crisis.

Schrier and the Democratic Party’s brazen militarism showcases that the ruling class- represented in both the Democratic and Republican parties do NOT care about the working class in America.

They only seek to line their pockets with profit from the American working class and plunder underdeveloped countries around the world to rake in profits.

The military budget is a scathing insult to all of the millions of people around the globe who died in wars of aggression waged by the United States so the Military-Industrial-Complex could grow ever richer!
